What is SimSimi's bad words policy?

  We remove content, disable accounts, and work with law enforcement when we believe there is a genuine risk of physical harm or direct threats to public safety. Learn more about how SimSimi handles abusive content.
  In accordance with our online Terms and Conditions, Users are prohibited from teaching or publishing bad words to SimSimi. The following are bad words forbidden by SimSimi.
  • Content that explicit obsence content

  • Content that includes or encourages sexual abuse of children.

  • Content that depicts or encourages excessive violence or other dangerous conduct.

  • Content that includes or encourages threats, harassment, or bullying.

  • Content that promotes hatred of a particular group based on race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, disability, medical or genetic condition.

  • Content promoting illegal activities.

  • Note! Prohibited content may be added or changed in the latest terms. Please refer to the latest terms and conditions for more accurate information.

      Please keep in mind that something you don't like on SimSimi may not go against our Terms and conditions. In this case, adjust the frequency of bad words in the settings to determine the conversation level that suits you.
      Below are some examples of how you can report content to us:

  • SimSimi's Response
  • The best way to report abusive content or spam in the chat room is by using the speech bubble itself.

      To report a speech bubble:
        1. Click a speech bubble what you want to report.
        2. (Phrase Info) Tap 'Report'.
        3. Select a category for your report and follow the on-screen instructions.
        4. Please input the most problematic word/phrase in the sentence you reported.


  • Cyberbullying and Harrassement
  • If you enter your name in 'Name protect', no one will be eligible to teach SimSimi a response to your name. The protection period is 90 days after it is issued.

      To protect your name:
        1. Go to Home screen.
        2. Tap Name Protect.
        3. Enter your name you want to protect in input fields.
        4. Tap OK button.

    Note! If it's the same name as a celebrity, or is a word that can not be considered as a name, it is very likely that the taught response does not target you. To protect your name in this case, please let us know by tapping the 'Send an e-mail' button in the warning pop-up.


  • Message
  • If you think a message you've received in 1:1 chat goes against our Community Standards, you can report it. We won't tell the person you're talking to that you reported it. Keep in mind that not everything that may be upsetting violates our Community Standards. But, if someone is bothering you in a 1:1 conversation, you can always block them on SimSimi.

      To report a message conversation:
        1. Open the inbox and check the person's nickname you want to report and your nickname.
        - Once you have read all your new messages, you can see the messages for the last 7 days by nickname in the "Recent message".
        2. Visit "Block a nickname" page, and report a nickname and message.


      We rely on SimSimi users to report content that they find inappropriate. Reported content may be automatically romved by the report regulations.
      Report regulations are applyed when SimSimi system is notified of a violation of the Community Guidelines. This includes but is not limited to contents that contain sexual content, violent, harmful or dangerous content, hateful content, threats, spam, misleading metadata, or scams. Sometimes content is removed for reasons other than Community Guidelines violations, such as the safety of the user who taught a sentence, a first-party privacy complaint, court order, or other non-malicious issue.
      Sometimes criticism and insults can escalate into more serious forms of harassment and cyberbullying. If specific threats are made against you and you feel unsafe, tell a trusted adult and report it to your local law enforcement agency.


  • What happens if you receive a strike
  •   We understand that users make mistakes and don’t intend to violate our policies — that’s why deleting content does not strike on your account unconditionally. However, we are strictly against cyberbullying and harassment. In cases where harassment crosses the line into a malicious attack it can stike on the account of the user who created the contents. The cyberbullying report will remove contents only once. While you have a strike on your account, you may not have access to some features on SimSimi.


  • Appeal a Community Guidelines strike
  •   if you think that your contents doesn't violate the terms and conditions and was removed in error, you can appeal the strike. Send a emil via . When you send the mail, please specify what content was deleted.


  • SimSimi's Response
  • SimSimi Team additionally applied the word filter in some languages. We developed the so-called ‘Bad Words Discriminator (BWD)’ to distinguish the bad word from every word of SimSimi. The testing of the BWD in some languages showed 90% accuracy to distinguish bad words from bad words. Its accuracy is gradually improving, and we aim to improve the accuracy of the discriminator in all languages to over 99%.


  • Name Protect
  • Bullying through SimSimi takes place in way of teaching an unpleasant or insulting response targetting a specific individual's name. If you enter your name in 'Name protect', no one will be eligible to teach SimSimi a response to your name. The protection period is 90 days after it is issued.
